The slaying of Chanda and Munda is a significant story from Hindu mythology. 

Goddess Kali Battle Against Chanda and Munda:

Once, there were two powerful demons named Chanda and Munda. They were allies of the demon kings Shumbha and Nishumbha, who were wreaking havoc in the universe. These demons were causing destruction, terrorizing the gods, saints, and innocent beings. Seeing the plight of the world, the gods approached Goddess Parvati (Durga) for help.6
In response to the gods’ plea, a tremendous burst of energy emitted from Goddess Parvati’s forehead, creating a fierce and powerful goddess – Kali. Kali’s appearance was terrifying, with her dark complexion, disheveled hair, and a garland of skulls around her neck. She was adorned with a skirt made of severed arms and a necklace of demon heads.
